Framing tape

Framing tape gives edgy look to art

Faux gilt frames art with a wink

NATALIE CAUDILL/DMN
Looking for an edgy way to frame your photos or add a decorative border to your walls or doorways? The Dutch group Droog, a design collective in Amsterdam, has made a name for itself by thinking up creative, and often inexpensive, home-furnishing items and decorative accessories.
The company's Do-Frame Tape is a self-adhesive vinyl printed to look like ornate, gilded, centuries-old frame molding produced by a master Florentine artisan.
Create a tongue-in-cheek salon by creating a frame for artwork directly on the wall. Decorate packages with it, enliven the bare walls of an apartment with a faux cornice molding.
The 25-meter roll is available at the cool boutiques worldwide, including Colette in Paris, Plann-et in Stockholm, the Design Museum shop in London and the Nasher Sculpture Center Store ($15 per roll) at NorthPark Center.
